Suspects on the run; mall robbery investigation underway

Two suspects are on the loose after robbing a jewelry store inside Vista Ridge Mall around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Initial reports came in as shots fired in the 2400 block of S Stemmons Freeway, but Capt. Jay Powell said those reports were untrue. No shots were fired and nobody was injured, Powell said.

Police said the two suspects entered a jewelry store and confronted the employee before stealing jewelry from the store and running out of the mall.

Powell said at least one suspect was armed. During their escape Tuesday afternoon, they were involved in a hit and run crash on Round Grove Road. No injuries were reported.

The duo was last seen in a red, four-door sedan that’s missing the passenger side rear view mirror.

Police ask anyone with information on the robbery or hit and run to contact the Lewisville Police Department’s Tip Line at 972-219-TIPS (8477) or Denton County Crime Stoppers at 800-388-TIPS (8477).

An investigation is underway.
